Short Biography of Some Key Persons

 

ALBERTO P. MORILLO, Director (On-leave)
ALBERTO P. MORILLO – Abet is a B.S. Geology graduate from the University of the Philippines. He attended numerous post graduate courses in business and geology. He took up Management Development training from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) and took M.S. Computer Science from the AMA University. He started his career as a geologist with Phillips Petroleum Company in Manila, Philippines from 1979 to 1983. He was trained in petroleum geology and economics in Oklahoma, USA and attended numerous courses in petroleum exploration and development. He worked as well-site geologist in 14 offshore wells drilled by the company from 1980-83 and work in most contract areas of company which covered almost all of the Philippines. From 1983-84, he worked with PNOC-EC as Project Geologist in the Mindoro Contract Area. Later he joined Jasra Jackson (a US independent) to work in its exploration program in Brunei and Indonesia. In 1986-87, he was hired by Semirara Coal Corporation to administer the coal assessment program in Unong, Himalian and Panian Coalfields in Semirara Island, south of Mindoro. In 1986, with other geologists he established a consultancy group for energy resource exploration and development. He joined Basic Petroleum and Minerals Inc. in 1987 as Geophysicist and later promoted to VP for Petroleum Operation managing its exploration program in the Philippines and its involvement in Thailand and South Korea. He was responsible in the increase of acreage holding of the company and the successful farmouts to ARCO, Occidental and other foreign companies. In 1997 to 2000, he worked with Forum Pacific Inc. as Vice President and managed its exploration program in North Cebu, Manila Bay and SW Palawan. In 2000, he took up independent consultancy assignments with Forum, Japex and Laxmi under First Exploration Development Services. He contracted and supervised the testing of an oil well and the drilling of an onshore well in Forum’s North Cebu Block, assisted Japex in their contract application and coordinated their fieldwork in Cebu, and initiated and finalized a Buy-In Agreement to Forum by the Tracer Group. In 2005, he co-founded FEDS Energy which advised Aragorn Power and Energy Corp. and Aragorn Coal Resources Inc. of APC Group in its application for coal, geothermal and petroleum service contracts with the DOE. He has also developed projects for Petro-Energy, Basic and Alcorn. In 2009 he was consultant to PNOC Renewable Corporation (PNOC-RC) and was responsible to its involvement in the Maibarara Geothermal Power Project, the acquisition of the Mainit-Sadanga and the Buguias-Tinoc Geothermal Contracts. He was also involved in 8 hydro projects of PNOC-RC as member of the Technical Working Group. He is currently VP-Operations of Basic Energy Corp.
